The administration will present recommended graduation requirements applicable to the graduating class of 2017 (incoming Freshman, fall 2013).  This is the annual review of graduation requirements for board action.

Update of Governance Process Policies, GP-2 and GP-5 First Reading - Board

The Board reviewed the GP (Governance Process) Policies at the August retreat and will conduct a first reading of modifications to GP-2 Governing Style and GP-5 Chief Governance Officer's Role.  The policies will be discussed and changes, if any, will be incorporated and the policies presented for action at the January 23rd meeting.

Director Magendanz has indicated that he will resign from the Board in order to assume his new responsibilities as State Representative, 5th Legislative District.  The Board would need to accept the resignation, and then consider a process and timeline to fill the open position in Director District 4.

Guidelines for public participation at board meetings

Board meetings are open to the public. They are designed to conduct board business rather than to serve as a public hearing, unless a public hearing is scheduled. Individuals wishing to give public comment on a specific agenda item where public comment is being accepted should wait to be recognized by the Board President during that agenda item. All other public comment should be given under the agenda item Public Comment. In the interest of time management, individual input is limited to two minutes. An individual may also submit a prepared statement to be given to the board secretary prior to the oral presentation.

Comments/concerns relative to district personnel should not be heard in public; rather, they should be directed through the Parent Complaints Against District Employees policy, obtained through the superintendent's office at (425) 837-7002.
